Responses to selection criteria require tight, concise writing with every sentence supporting the point being made, and every paragraph winning marks for the applicant.
Clients consistently express surprise at Sherida’s ability to extract and articulate relevant examples whilst thinking and writing “on her feet”. In many instances, her extensive experience enables her to contribute knowledge to the point where it is not that unusual for clients to exclaim, tongue in cheek, “you could do my job”. Her ability to “read” people elicits comments such as “how did you know that?”
One of Sherida’s key strengths is her ability to ask the right questions to extract relevant and meaningful examples that earn points with the selection panel. Writing in real time, she is able to structure responses that are logical, concise and relevant. She is able to adapt the style of writing to reflect the educational level and experience of the client so that the authentic voice of the person is heard. The overall impact, achieved through format and writing style, is one of professionalism and quiet confidence.
Clients do not need to write out their responses before attending the appointment.
Note:
Some Queensland Government Agencies have introduced new requirements for written applications and these vary from agency to agency. In some cases, instead of providing in-depth responses to selection criteria, the requirement is for a concise two to three page summary addressing the applicant’s suitability for the position. The writing style has to be adapted to suit the type of document required.
