The Principal

Sherida Carrick, B.Ed (Distinction), AIMM

Initially commencing her career as a stenographer at the University of Queensland, Sherida progressed to various secretarial, PA and Executive Assistant roles. With no apparent career path available to her in this field, she took four years out of the workforce to study for a Bachelor of Education, majoring in English and History, working part-time as a wordprocessing teacher and English tutor whilst studying. Then followed several years as a teacher and workplace trainer.

Background

Sherida established Dynamic Résumés from scratch, initially on a part-time basis for two years (1992 & 1993) whilst teaching in both the secondary and TAFE education systems. By 1994 it was apparent that a full-time business was viable and in April of that year Sherida “hung up her shingle”.

Since then, Sherida has refined her writing skills in the course of preparing thousands of applications (résumés, responses to selection criteria and cover letters). She has pioneered an interactive technique that involves her working with her clients to produce quality documents that get results. The key to success is a collaborative, interactive, user-friendly process that produces a document that employers can believe and trust.

Personality Snapshot

For 15 years, Sherida has written personal profiles for her clients and included them in their CVs/Résumés. Clients are often amazed at her ability to “read” them accurately. Now, for the first time, she writes her own profile for you, her potential employers.

My clients would probably describe me as being friendly, quick thinking, intuitive and efficient. They probably would also say that I am forthright, direct and honest. One client summed me up, in a testimonial, as being friendly, charismatic and smart. I have never thought of myself as being charismatic but I am friendly and bring a considerable degree of knowhow to my job.

As I like a contemplative life, I do not have a large circle of friends, but the friends I do have, are loyal, genuine and generous and I am fortunate to have them.

I have a history of taking in dogs that have been abandoned or lost, the current refugee being a Blue Heeler who requires up to two hours exercise a day, thus contributing to my physical fitness and mental alertness and, by extension, my ability to do my job.
